Hafa Velontegna (Phase 2) |
Our projects around the world
Context
The fight against malnutrition is still a long-term task in Madagascar, which is why the State as well as national and international, public and private organisations are working to eradicate this scourge.
During phase 1 of the project, PPI set up 107 Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs), mainly for pregnant and lactating women. 58 VSLAs participated in the establishment of a grouped vegetable garden; 63 received training in product processing and conservation techniques. At the end of the first phase, 250 VSLA members are using improved stoves; 189 members benefit from a stable income-generating activity. Phase 2 of the Hafa Velontegna project aims to extend these activities to other districts in the Analanjirofo region.
Goals
The overall objective of the project is to contribute to strengthening the resilience and improving the dietary diversity of households headed by vulnerable mothers (primarily of children aged 0-23 months).
In particular, PPI aims to support vulnerable mothers through key activities to improve their resilience and sustainably address food and nutrition insecurity of children aged 0-23 months in the districts of Vavatenina, Fénérive-Est and Soanierana Ivongo.
Beneficiaries
11,800 beneficiaries in 3 districts: 4,725 VSLA members and 7,136 children from vulnerable households.
