Our projects around the world
Context
The MSME sector is the backbone of the Lebanese economy. MSMEs account for 95% of businesses in Lebanon and 50% of its employment. However, the multiple development crises faced by Lebanon recently have impacted the performance of MSMEs. Moreover, the capital control measures placed by banks have significantly restricted MSME lending and a liquidity crunch has caused many to shut down.
Goals
The general objective of this service was to make a market assessment of Asset-Based Lending (ABL) with a focus on Supply Chain Finance (SCF) Market in Lebanon.
The service was following the key objectives of reviewing and quantification of the overall supply chain finance potential and assessing its demand in major industries, the current supply and uncovered gaps ; making recommendations about possible actions for financial institutions in Lebanon to tap into the supply chain finance opportunity ; and finally, listing supply chain finance technology platforms with key features and characteristics.
Beneficiaries
The assessment provides clarity to policymakers as to the challenges faced by the private sector. This will enable them to design evidence-based policies and recommend modifications of products and services that respond to the evolving SCF market.
