Our projects around the world
Context
Egypt has been through a lengthy transitional period of political transformation that has had negative consequences on its economy. Some of these consequences include the withdrawal of investments and shutting down or shrinkage of many businesses and sectors that used to absorb large numbers of skilled and unskilled youth, such as tourism. Moreover, this has coincided with the return of significant amounts of Egyptian expatriates from Libya and Iraq due to political turmoil. All of these events have resulted in a significant rise in unemployment in Egypt over the past few years.
Goals
The general objective of the SAGE project was to contribute towards a more enabling environment for sustainable inclusive economic growth in Egypt, fostered through effective and innovative civil society actions which deliver enhanced Business Development Services.

- Test 3 new modalities for the delivery of non-financial services to MSMEs: mobile-based coaching application in Minya, micro-franchising in Beni Sueif, and vouchers scheme in Sohag.
